"Pre-Press" has become a generic term for the preparation of your electronic files prior to output. It includes typography, layout, page composition, image placement and color descriptions.

It is important when submitting your electronic files to us that they are properly "Pre-Flighted", meaning that all the above items are checked to ensure that your files will output as you want.

The following chart may be helpful. Of course, we can do this work for you if you prefer, but it is always best if you are aware of these items. As always, feel free to call us with any questions or concerns you may have about correctly "Pre-Flighting" your job.

Type Are the fonts on your system? Please be sure to include all needed fonts on your disk.
Images Are the images in your publication the most current? It is always a good idea to check the "Links" box in your layout program to be sure that you are using the most up-to-date files in your publication, and that they are properly linked to your main file.
Images Are your images in the right "color space"? Scanned or illustrated images are sometimes created in an RGB color space. For proper color reproduction during printing, it is necessary for your images to be in the CMYK color space. Please be sure to convert your images using your image processing program. This will ensure that the images you see on your screen are the images you want on your printed piece.
Images Are they included on your disk? Please be sure to include all needed image files on your disk.
Images Are you within the "gamut range" of your printer? Gamut is the amount of ink that a given press can handle. Please call us at 800-554-9169 with any questions.
Proofs Can your job print? It's always helpful to us if you include a printed proof of your job when you submit a disk to us for processing. Even a black and white laser proof will do. This will show that your job can print.
